RPG1 REGIONAL PLANNING GUIDANCE FOR THE NORTH EAST TO 2006
*2.12 Accelerate the renaissance of Tyne, Wear and Tees conurbations
*Provide job opportunities and support communities in the former coalfield areas
*Adapt and revitalise the region’s town and city centres
*Secure rural regeneration
*2.17 Develop local enterprise and increase quantity and quality of available employment
*2.20 Give priority to re-using previously developed land and buildings
*2.33 Reduce the need to travel and encourage travel by means other than the private car
*2.35 Improve international accessibility by developing the role of Newcastle and Teesside Airports, the region’s ports, and rail links to the Channel Tunnel
