INTERACT
INTERACT is part of the INTERREG III Community Initiative and is designed to capitalise on the wealth of knowledge accumulated through INTERREG in terms of regional development, cross-border co-operation, transnational co-operation and interregional co-operation.
INTERACT aims to encourage the transfer of experiences and good practice between institutions and individuals in different areas. The services of the programme are developed by the Programme Secretariat and the five INTERACT points which are Information and Animation, Managing Transition and External Co-operation, Tool Box and Qualification and Transfer.
A new INTERACT website has just been set up www.interact-eu.net. This provides details of forthcoming events and publications. From this website you can also download the recently completed INTERREG - An Assessment of Needs by INTERACT which was conducted as an input into the development of the services provided by the INTERACT programme. The study highlighted the need for information, communication and training.
INTERACT Project IONAS (Ionian and Adriatic Cities and Ports Joint Co-operation) one of the four INTERACT projects approved has launched its website which can be viewed at www.ionasproject.net/ The purpose of this INTERACT project was the facilitation of communication between a network of the cities and ports on the Adriatic and Ionian coasts. This will be achieved by developing a 'Port Community', raising the awareness of EMAS and the creation of a Forum for the Ionain and Adriatic cities and ports.
